How the math works
needed average = (passing grade − earned contribution) ÷ remaining weight
Each score contributes its score multiplied by its course weight. The calculator then assigns the unfinished weight the average needed to reach your passing grade.
Worked example
A 65% pass with 40% of the class left
Suppose your completed work contributes 42 points toward the final grade and 40% remains. You need 23 more course points, so the required average is 23 ÷ 0.40 = 57.5% across the remaining work.

Frequently asked questions
Why must the weights total 100%?
Course weights describe the whole final grade. A total below or above 100% means something is missing or counted twice, so the result would be misleading.
Does the maximum achievable grade use my future scores?
Yes. Enter the best score you believe you can earn for each remaining item. The result uses those values rather than assuming every future score is automatically 100%.
What does on track mean?
Your completed work has already contributed enough points to meet the passing threshold, although future work may still affect the official grade under your course rules.
